Award Leaders

TPA Award Leaders are those adults who play a vital role in ensuring that the Award Programme is successfully implemented with young people. Award Leaders are hardworking women and men who give their time as volunteers to ensure that the youth with whom they work become stronger, inspired and motivated young adults. To become an Award Leader, one does need any professional qualification or specific experience or training – all it takes is a desire to share their experience with younger people.

The Role of the Award Leader is:

  • To help young people to choose their individual programme and set their personal goals;
  • To help them identify the resources and facilities which will enable them to follow their chosen activities;
  • To monitor their progress and act as motivators
  • To deal with simple Award Administration

What our Award Leaders have to say¦

"I have learnt that Youth need to be developed and I have the potential in challenging them to develop"

"The Programme is about getting Youth involved in activities that build positive relationship and it is also a form of therapy for troubled young minds"

"For me challenges are just small challenges that you have to jump over to become a better person¦ For me bonding and getting to know my colleagues and offenders was the essence of this hike. Through this wonderful experience my interaction with offenders changed drastically"ť

"As a teacher I have seen miracles happen in the lives of the girls who were brave enough to take the challenges of this programme seriously. The girls are more goal orientated, have a stronger belief in themselves and are more prepared to take on the huge challenges"ť

"The highlight of my involvement with The President's Award as when I received a Certificate of Appreciation from Prince Edward¦ it was such a privledge¦ I felt more motivated to make a significant difference in the lives of offenders participating in The President's Award".
